ARIZONA CONSORTIUM FOR THE ARTS LAUNCHES ITS 2nd ANNUAL BLUE GUITAR FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS
All are invited! Free to attend! Valley residents will get to experience a robust sampling of the arts – ranging from music, dance, and culture, to performance art and literary works – at Arizona Consortium for the Arts 2nd Annual Blue Guitar Festival of the Arts on Sunday, April 18th at ASU West Campus in Glendale. The event is in collaboration with the ASU Kurdish Youth Club.
The festival will include performances by the “Arizona Classical Kids” Musicians, Arizona School of Classical Ballet Students, a presentation of the Filipino Martial Arts by two sisters, Nikki and Grace Tordil, both are sixth-graders at Luke Elementary School. Singer and Acoustic Guitarist Neil Dicks, Opera Singer Maria Restivo, Singer and Acoustic Guitarist Jonathan Gabriel , Singer Edna Elizabeth Abeyasundra, Musician Vincent Alexander Chavez, “SMUDD”, local Rock and Roll Band that will have you rockin’ and rollin’ to your all time favorites, readings from the “Blue Guitar” Magazine and many other artists. There will also be dignitaries and local personalities from the community speaking about the importance of promoting arts and culture in our communities.
The festival runs from 12:00pm-5:00pm and will be held at Arizona State University at the West Campus, La Sala, 4701 W Thunderbird Rd, Glendale, AZ 85306.

“Artist of the Month"
Arizona Consortium for the Arts is presenting “Artist of the Month” every last Sunday .
Our February featured artists are Marjory Boyer and Jonathan Gabriel. Marjory and Jonathan have won numerous arts awards, ribbons and recognition. They also are great arts activists and serve on boards. Marjory’s painting “The Blue Guitar” is the permanent cover and logo for the “The Blue Guitar” arts and literary magazine. Join us, bring family and friends and enjoy Marjory’s and Jonathan’s presentation of their exquisite works. Refreshments served.

A call to writers
The Blue Guitar is accepting submissions for its Spring edition from January 15, 2010, through February 28, 2010. The Blue Guitar is seeking submissions in all genres — fiction, poetry, plays, creative nonfiction — for its spring issue from January 15, 2010, through February 28, 2010. Writers must submit original work and must live in Arizona. Simultaneous submissions will be accepted, but the writer must notify the magazine as soon as possible if the work is accepted elsewhere. Submissions selected by the editor will appear in the spring edition of the magazine, which will be published online and potentially in print. Please include your name and the best way to contact you on your submission. It is free to submit and submissions may be made in multiple genres. Manuscripts and photos that are mailed to the magazine cannot be returned. Submissions are accepted from January 15, 2010, through February 28, 2010.
